Youth gear up for National Pro-life T-shirt Day

"The picture on this year's National Pro-Life T-shirt Day shirts speaks a thousand words about the beauty of the preborn child in the womb," said Erik Whittington, American Life League's youth outreach director. "These shirts, and the kids who wear them, present the truth about the horrific act of abortion. We're convinced they will save lives."

On April 24, young people across the country will participate in American Life League's fifth annual National Pro-Life T-shirt Day by wearing shirts with pro-life messages. To help get the word out about the event, American Life League is hosting a comprehensive web site at www.NationalProLifeTshirtDay.com.

"This year's T-shirt day is extremely important given the dramatic changes taking place in our country," said Whittington. "A growing number of states are proposing legislation to make abortion illegal. Other states are working to cut tax funding from Planned Parenthood, the nation's leading abortion provider. The young people are right at the center of this fight and are willing to work to bring an end to the systematic destruction of preborn children by abortion."

Whittington said unfortunately, he expects to hear about harassment of T-shirt wearers and attempts by school administrators to silence the pro-life message. "In years past, the Thomas More Law Center has assisted students who were forced to remove the messaged shirts by school officials," said Whittington. "This talented group of legal experts has been able to show that if public schools permit students to wear other message clothing, they cannot discriminate on the type of message." Administrators have had to back down and permit students to wear pro-life apparel.

"The students' strong and determined voices for the babies will not be silenced," said Whittington. "That's what ALL's National Pro-Life T-shirt Day is all about."
