Week in Review – Abortion, Sex, and Planned Parenthood’s new president
It is becoming clear that the anti-life forces in the United States want the 2020 elections to be all about killing preborn babies. This was illustrated this week by the reaction of the pro-aborts to a debate on CNN among the Democratic candidates for president. After the debate, Planned Parenthood and others were absolutely outraged that there were no questions about abortion in the three-hour debate. Planned Parenthood tweeted: “Tonight, voters missed an opportunity to hear how Democratic candidates will approach a fundamental issue that impacts their lives. Candidates spent more than 30 minutes debating health care, but it’s meaningless if we cannot access it. #DemDebate.”
New abortion laws took effect yesterday (August 1) in Louisiana. According to published reports, access to abortions done via medication (the abortion pill) is shrinking around the state. Medication abortions, administered through pills (mifepristone and methotrexate) must be performed at Louisiana’s three licensed abortion clinics in New Orleans, Shreveport and Baton Rouge, not in a gynecologist’s office. Another new Louisiana law requires that any abortion clinic employee who believes a woman seeking the procedure is a victim of human trafficking, rape or incest must report that to law enforcement immediately and must get annual training on human trafficking prevention. Of course, while these laws may be improvements on a horrible situation, it is still not a crime to intentionally kill your preborn child in Louisiana or any other state.
Wrapping up our coverage of what’s been happening in Worcester (MA) with the Planned Parenthood sex indoctrination battle (see last two weeks of this PLTW), this week Planned Parenthood announced endorsements of candidates running for school board and city council seats in Worcester. Planned Parenthood endorsed school committee member Molly McCullough and school committee challengers Chantel Bethea, Tracy Novick, Cara Berg Powers and John Trobaugh. Additionally, Planned Parenthood endorsed current at-large city council members Mayor Joe Petty, Moe Bergman, and Khrystian King, as well as challenger Etel Haxhiaj. Planned Parenthood noted that the endorsed school board members support PP-style sex education programs.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s new acting president, Alexis McGill Johnson, did an interview on CBS News this week. It was her first public interview since assuming her new role. The first question she was asked was: “Is Planned Parenthood a health care organization or a political organization?” Her answer was: “We are primarily a health care provider. We provide access to sexual and reproductive health, in some cases primary care. We’re not political by nature but we’ve been politicized, and that fight has actually been our focus—to ensure that our health centers stay open.”
WOW. For 12 years, PPFA’s president, Cecile Richards, worked day and night to make Planned Parenthood into a political force in the United States. Richards was a career political animal. Her mother was the former governor of Texas. She, herself, is the former deputy chief of staff for Nancy Pelosi, current Speaker of the House in DC. Planned Parenthood built its political muscle and helped a relatively unknown politician, Barack Obama, win the presidency. During Obama’s eight years in office, the PPFA president visited the White House over 39 times. PP spent millions on Hillary Clinton’s campaign and was set to exert their political force when she got elected—which, fortunately, she didn’t.
Now, the new acting president of Planned Parenthood—who is there precisely because PP rejected Dr. Wen’s efforts to make it less political—has the nerve to say that PP is a health care organization that “has been politicized,” as if PP is the victim of some outside force. With this one answer to her first question in her first interview, Johnson made it clear what we will get from her for the next two years—dishonesty . . . not truthfulness.

Action Item of the Week – Call attention to PP’s focus on killing Black children
Planned Parenthood has long targeted Black babies and women under their plan of extermination called The Negro Project. They have used abortion to advance the eugenic cause, and their efforts have resulted in the deaths of more than 20,000,000 Black lives.
Civil Rights for the Unborn, the Douglass Leadership Institute and The Restoration Project are hosting a National Day of Mourning August 31, 2019, at Guiding Light Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
Currently, Planned Parenthood has constructed or is constructing three mega (10,000 square feet or larger) abortion centers in Black neighborhoods—one in the Churchill community of Richmond, VA, one in the Cherry neighborhood (the oldest Black neighborhood) in Charlotte, NC, and the third in Birmingham, AL, just blocks from the historic 16th Street Baptist Church.

A processional will begin August 30, 2019, from the Mt. Olivet Church in Churchill, VA. Stops will be made in Raleigh, NC, and Charlotte, NC, to add participants who will proceed to Atlanta, GA, and spend the night.
On August 31, 2019, the processional will continue on to Birmingham where a rally and prayer meeting will conclude the National Day of Mourning.

Pro-life Social Media – Abortion Groups Are Angry Democrats Didn’t Use the “A” Word
For decades, abortion advocates have framed the terminology of killing preborn children as “reproductive rights” and “reproductive healthcare” because abortion violence brings to mind the graphic destruction of a human child. Now the tide has turned and abortion groups are attempting to take back the word. Women shouldn’t be ashamed of their dead children. Rather, they should “shout” their abortion story.
When Democratic presidential candidates took the stage for another national debate, the architects of death watched in horror as candidates bent over backwards to avoid saying the word “abortion.”

Despite all the disappointment, we’re confident that, at the end of the day, Planned Parenthood and its allies will still throw millions at the candidate who wins the nomination, even if he or she is afraid to use the “A” word.
