PA Teen Wins National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week Contest

Elverson, PA Teen Wins National Pro-Life T-shirt Week Competition

(Washington, DC) — American Life League (ALL) announced today that Amanda Valentino of Elverson, Pennsylvania, has won top prize in this year’s National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week contest.  With over 9,000 participants from 47 states, Valentino won the first prize iPad 2 by achieving 751 points of a possible 890, beating out the second place contestant from New York by just 4 points.

“We verified and posted over 6,800 photos from some very creative and enthusiastic contestants,” explained Tom Mon, vice president at ALL. “This contest is the most fun I get to have all year.”   Thousands participated by just ordering and wearing this year’s official T-shirt in public between April 12 and April 18 although it was not required to participate in the photo contest.

ALL, the nation’s oldest and largest Catholic pro-life group, sponsors the event each year to encourage young pro-lifers (of any age) to earn points by submitting photos of completing any one of 400 listed tasks while wearing any pro-life T-shirt.  Contest tasks range from the mundane (brushing your teeth) to the quite creative (“Cooking the Books” at a library) to the somewhat weird (standing on a chair at a mall holding an umbrella in the air).

Contestants can enter as an individual or a group. The contestant who scored the most points by sending in photos of different completed tasks won a new iPad 2.  Second and third place winners from New York and Georgia won iPod Touches while even fourth and fifth place finishers from Michigan and California won iPod Shuffles.

The competition used to be just one day but due to its popularity, ALL expanded it to a week and has had to triple the number of tasks to complete.  The top five places completed an average of 350 of the 400 tasks available.  Only two tasks of the 400 listed were not completed at least once.
