American Life League Statement on Zika Virus Remedy

Washington D.C.: American Life League president Judie Brown has issued a statement regarding the declaration of a global emergency by the World Health Organization following a confirmed outbreak of infection by the Zika virus in Central and South American countries and numerous calls by pro abortion organizations advocating for abortion as a means to resolve the emergency.

Judie Brown made the following statement on behalf of American Life League:

The spread of the ZIKA Virus, a mosquito-borne virus suspected to cause serious brain damage in newborn infants, is creating alarm across central America and in the USA as well.

The tragic news of this latest viral infection appears to be yet another notch in the pistol of the pro-abortion cartel known to never pass up a reason to kill a preborn child..

Amanda Klasing of Human Rights Watch says “In a region where more than half of all pregnancies in the region are unplanned, governments need to make contraception — and even abortion — accessible to women in order to prevent the most harmful impact of the untreatable virus.”

The situation is so bad that in Latin America many women have been warned to avoid pregnancy at all costs, and that if they do get pregnant, to be aware that that because abortion is illegal in most of those countries, women who are already pregnant have very few ‘options.’

If this sounds like the first round in another battle among abortion advocates to press on for laws that diminish the dignity of the preborn child while exonerating acts that kill them as worthy of consideration, you are right on the mark.

The Zika Virus is a horrible threat to women, children and others, but when aborting a child is considered to be an antidote, there is clearly something wrong with the attitudes of those who should be at the forefront of developing an ethical vaccine to fight the virus rather than fighting it by killing possible victims.

Learn the facts and spread the word: the Zika Virus is not an argument for more child killing by abortion; the Zika virus needs a remedy that saves lives.

Background: According to the World Health Organization (WHO) website, in 2015 local health authorities in Brazil observed an increase in babies born with microcephaly at the same time of an outbreak of Zika virus.  WHO Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, in a statement confirming the public health threat posed by the ZIKA outbreak and justification for declaration of a public health emergency stated, “The experts agreed that a causal relationship between Zika infection during pregnancy and microcephaly is strongly suspected, though not yet scientifically proven. All agreed on the urgent need to coordinate international efforts to investigate and understand this relationship better.”  Considering the suspected but unconfirmed relationship between infection and microcephaly, Chan continued, “At present, the most important protective measures are the control of mosquito populations and the prevention of mosquito bites in at-risk individuals, especially pregnant women.”

American Life League supports the WHO efforts of prevention and views the suggestions recommending abortion and contraception as irresponsible non-solutions simply adding tragedy to an already alarming health threat.
