Planned Parenthood Supported in TV Series, but Losing in Real Life

On July 14 of this year the Center for Medical Progress began the release of undercover videos taken at Planned Parenthood centers and meetings. The videos revealed PP’s participation in selling baby body parts. Viewers were shocked as a PP abortionist discussed the baby body parts business over lunch as she ate a salad and sipped wine. Now, fast forward to this week.

According to a report on zap2it.com, this week’s episode of Scandal—a political thriller TV series in its fifth season on ABC—included an ending that supported continued taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. Zap2it reports the episode included the show’s main character, Olivia Pope, being pregnant and getting “an abortion onscreen.” The end of the episode “finds Olivia back at home in her apartment, complete with a brand new couch, a glass of wine, and a bowl of popcorn.” Planned Parenthood reportedly tweeted its thanks to the show and to Shonda Rhimes—the show’s creator—for writing such a supportive episode.

What can we say? The abortion mentality is permeating American culture and showing up everywhere—seemingly accompanied by drinking wine to celebrate the death of our children. We are clearly living in a culture of death and we must pray and take action to reclaim our country.

In more positive news, this week the Ohio House of Representatives voted to defund Planned Parenthood in the state. A few weeks ago, the Ohio Senate also passed a similar bill to defund Planned Parenthood. The legislators will now combine the bills and send it on to the governor.

Planned Parenthood is apparently having trouble, again, keeping up the morale of its staff. On Thursday it took to Twitter to ask: “What’s one word you would use to describe PP? Add it here to be included in THANK YOU to PP health center staff!” Those who oppose Planned Parenthood could not pass up this offer and here are some of the words that were tweeted back to PP: evil, murderers, dishonest, fraud, monstrous, opportunists, disgusting, villainous, immoral, and BabyChopShop.

Finally, the New York Times reported on Thursday that “Gov. Mary Fallin [Oklahoma] asked Oklahoma’s Health Care Authority to cut its contracts with two Planned Parenthood affiliates, citing high rates of billing errors.” The NYT article noted that this effort to stop taxpayer money flowing to Planned Parenthood is a growing trend across the country.
