Judge Gorsuch and Monies Directed toward UNFPA and Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood has been active throughout the media this week doing everything it can to derail the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the US Supreme Court. PP is worried because all indications are that Judge Gorsuch will be a justice who actually believes in the Constitution and who will not be an activist for Planned Parenthood and its practices.

In one exchange of opinions this week, Judie Brown, president of American Life League, reacted to an op-ed from Planned Parenthood’s Sarah Taylor-Nanista. Brown said:

Even though enemies of life and justice are decrying his nomination, Neil Gorsuch will likely be confirmed as an associate justice of the Supreme Court. In my experience, when someone at Planned Parenthood speaks out against someone—as Sarah Taylor-Nanista, vice president of public affairs for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, did—it is proof of that person’s quality. Here is a great example of that—one that proves Gorsuch will be good for jurisprudence in America.

Contrary to Planned Parenthood’s propaganda, Gorsuch does not have an “alarming history of interfering with reproductive rights.” Gorsuch has ruled with prudence on matters of law, and let’s face it, women’s abortion rights have no place in our country’s law.

As we write this, the Senate is in the process of getting to a confirmation vote on Judge Gorsuch. The final vote is expected to take place late today. Please pray that Gorsuch will be confirmed.

In a victory for life, President Trump had his administration take all United States monies away from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) that supports forced abortions and other anti-life activities in China. The United States has had a policy of not supporting the UNFPA, but President Obama reportedly ignored that policy and gave the organization over $30 million a year in US taxpayer funds. That has now been stopped by President Trump.

As the struggle between good and evil continues, the successful efforts of the pro-life movement are forcing state and local governments to become public in their positions. The mayor of New York City, for example, has said that, if Planned Parenthood is defunded from federal dollars, NYC will give it additional monies. Maryland has become the first state to enact legislation to mitigate any federal cuts to Planned Parenthood. A bill there goes into effect July 1 and will direct $2 million from Maryland’s Medicaid budget and $700,000 from the state’s general fund to family planning services. Karen Nelson, president of Planned Parenthood of Maryland, said the Maryland General Assembly “has done what is necessary to protect our patients who turn to Planned Parenthood for their health care.”
