A Message about Abortion from a Real Woman

This week, we listened to Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, testify before a congressional hearing. The hearing was prompted by the revelations of Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the supply of baby body parts to procurement companies and in the organization receiving financial remuneration for doing so.

In listening to Richards talk about Planned Parenthood’s “compassionate” care for women, I was sickened. Not only did Richards maintain that killing babies in the womb and then cutting them up for parts was a real service for women, so did her defenders in Congress. Several congresswomen went further and stated that anyone who opposes Planned Parenthood is misogynistic.

While listening to his drivel, I thought of a real woman—Dr. Mildred Faye Jefferson. Dr. Jefferson was the first black woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School and had a distinguished surgical career before the Roe v. Wade decision. Afterward, Dr. Jefferson became a staunch advocate for the preborn and their mothers. She served as president of National Right to Life and was, for many years, a member of the board of directors of American Life League. President Ronald Reagan credited her with educating him on pro-life values.

Dr. Jefferson died five years ago this month, at the age of 83. Today, I invite all our readers to watch this 3-minute video of Dr. Jefferson saying what she thinks of women who support abortion.
