Men, Women, and Them

I do not quite recall what the prefix “trans” used to stand for, but the latest use is really rather unique, and if I may say, totally defiant of nature.

This was my first thought when I read about President Biden’s choice for the post of assistant secretary of health in the Department of Health and Human Services. “Her” name is Rachel Levine, and according to the media she is a four-star admiral in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. But let us not forget the fact that “she” was born a he. And mainstream media loves this, as evidenced by the fact that she was recently named one of USA Today’s “Women of the Year.”

We now live in a world where everyone is free to claim whatever identification they feel bests suits them. Even the word transgender is relatively new to our vocabulary. According to Wikipedia, transgender people have a “gender identity or gender expression that differs from the sex that they were assigned at birth.”

Note the use of the word “assigned,” as that is the pivotal word in the sentence. Having had three children myself and being told each time that my husband and I were having a boy or a girl, it was clear even in those dark ages that doctors could tell early on about the sex of the human being God had chosen to bless us with each time.

Today, such facts are too old-fashioned, or so the secular world wants us to believe. But that is far from the truth.

Gender-bending is not God’s idea; it is specifically a human idea. In the book of Genesis, chapter five, we are told that “God created them, male and female.” That’s pretty much the story, but not if you want to be culturally correct. Then again, the Bible itself is not culturally correct for far too many people.

In essence what this means is that once again human beings have muddied the waters to suit their own salacious agendas. But the Vatican has tried to set the record straight regardless of the current trends in popular thinking. In the document “Male and Female He Created Them,” we read that gender theory itself is based on the notion that there is no difference or reciprocity in nature and that many people today envisage a society without sexual differences, thereby “eliminating the anthropological basis of the family.”

While this is the simple explanation of the challenges we face when dealing with the matter of gender theory, it does not address the underlying cause. Thank God others have done so.

One very good example is Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, who has written on the matter and states:

Because psychology has abandoned the concept that “normality is ‘that which functions in accordance with its design,’” it has also abandoned the conviction that transgenderism is abnormal.

The psychological profession now relies on surface appearance and self-report, and is bowing to the new, cultural conviction that “I can self-create.” Instead, my profession should return to penetrating the real reasons why a psychological phenomenon exists.

But to do as Dr. Nicolosi recommends is to place oneself in opposition to the socially accepted attitudes prevalent in our day, and that is abhorrent for most people. This is so because human beings have become callous to the true meaning of human sexuality. They have followed instead man’s quest for sterility to a sad conclusion. Society has moved from creating chemical sterility with medication to murdering innocent children prior to birth to the latest steppingstone in man’s reinvention of nature.

We have seen the results of man’s quest to rob human beings of their identity as people with souls who were created by God. We are living through the latest aberration now, wondering how much further down the rabbit hole human beings will sink.

Yet the answer is and has been always before us. Bowing down and worshipping God, who is the Author of Life, brings man back to reality and back to nature. Only then can society and its members proclaim with confidence that men and women are children of God.

“Male and female He created them.”
